Rachel laid one of the two files she carried in front of Matt Night, her boss, and the other before Gerard Perkins, the head of accounting. The three of them occupied a conference room for a meeting that could have taken place in Gerard's office, but Gerard had insisted. And by insisted, Rachel meant she'd thought Gerard would punch Matt in the face if he hadn't agreed.
Over the last two weeks Gerard's bad temper had become infamous around the office. No one could deal with him. The man snapped at everyone and found fault with everything. Rachel didn't know how this compared to his normal attitude, because he wasn't an executive with whom she'd had much interaction.
She did know the other assistants had been drawing lots every morning to decide the sacrificial lamb to be sent to Gerard that day. Each person sent to Gerard had ended the day jumpy and disheveled. Rachel had felt sorry for them all, but today her sympathy was for herself.
Thanks to Matt's meeting, it was her turn to feed the beast. She smiled at Gerard and asked, "Did you need anything else before the meeting starts, sir? Coffee? Tea?" An anti-depressant? Or a tranquilizer? Thinking about the last two choices kept her smile genuine with suppressed amusement.
Gerard said in a gruff, clipped voice, "Yeah. Your ass." He smacked the tabletop. "Right here. Right now."
"Yes, sir." Rachel bunched her skirt around her waist and bent with her ass in Gerard's direction.
He slapped it. Hard. The force of the blow was to cause pain, not pleasure, and it brought tears to Rachel's eyes. She sucked in a shaky breath and told herself to endure. Some of the executives were like this. It was all part of the job.
Gerard snapped, "Are you deaf as well as stupid? I said here." He pounded his fist on the tabletop. "Here. Here, you little moron."
Rachel straightened and rushed to climb onto the table. "Sorry, sir. I misunderstood."
"Take your clothes off first."
"Of course, sir." She pulled off her blouse, bra, and skirt quickly, setting them on a nearby chair. When she started to roll down her thigh-highs, Gerard caught one of her wrists in a firm grip. She turned her gaze to him. "Sir?"
He released her. "Leave the stockings and your shoes."
"Yes, sir." Turning her back to the table, she pulled herself onto it and then rolled to her hands and knees. A little side shuffle situated her in front of Gerard. "Like this, sir?"
"Down and spread your legs. Present your ass."
"Yes, sir." Rachel spread her legs while lowering her hips. With her hands planted on the table, she had no choice but to bend her back down. The position was making her hot, despite Gerard's attitude.
A quick glance at Matt showed his amusement at the situation. He hadn't said a word the entire time. He had his chin resting on one hand. When he caught Rachel looking at him, he winked.
